The Vibe at Tashkent Supermarket NYC

Walking into Tashkent Supermarket, you’re immediately greeted by a wide selection of unique food items, including a variety of fermented and specialty products. For groceries, I picked up Belevini peaches and their house-made kaymak both items I had heard a lot about. After browsing the market section, I made my way to the hot bar, which was filled with an impressive spread of both sweet and savory dishes. With so many options, it’s easy to spend a good amount of time deciding what to get and even harder not to grab a little bit of everything.

What to Order at Tashkent Supermarket Halal Food

Deeply savory with a subtle sweetness, the plov features rich, aromatic rice that was the true standout. The lamb is incredibly tender and the Lamb Plov would easily be my go-to every time I visit.

Similar to the lamb version, the Beef Plov features tender chunks of beef paired with flavorful, well balanced rice. Choosing whether to order the beef or lamb plov ultimately comes down to personal preference.

The Pistachio Cake slice is light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. Filled with bright, slightly sweet berries, it’s a well balanced dessert that’s both refreshing and delicious.

The Almond Cake slice was a standout for me being light, fluffy, and airy, topped generously with sliced almonds. It’s flavorful without being overly sweet, and I would definitely order it again.

The Tashkent Supermarket Kaymak has a rich, velvety texture, but it wasn’t quite to my taste. Worth trying for the experience, though it may not be for everyone.

The Belevini Peaches were delicious being large, juicy, and packed with refreshing natural flavor. The generous jar size also makes them great to enjoy over time.

Video: Tashkent Supermarket POV (West Village NYC)

@theblot.org NYC hidden gem 🇺🇿 This Uzbek supermarket is serving some of the most underrated food in the city… and it’s only $10.99/lb 🤯 I tried the beef plov (pilaf) and it was insanely flavorful tender chunks of beef, soft carrots, and every grain of rice coated in rich oil and spices. Super comforting and authentic. They also have lamb and chicken options (def trying lamb next time 👀). #nycfood #hiddengems #supermarket #uzbekfood #halal ♬ El Monte – Luke Melville
