Silk Noodle Bar in NYC is a welcome addition to Chinatown, especially since luosifen is still a hard dish to find in Manhattan. If you’re wondering what luosifen is, also known as Liuzhou river snail rice noodles it’s a bold, savory, and spicy noodle soup made with fermented bamboo shoots. The result? A famously “stinky” aroma paired with an incredibly addictive, umami packed flavor. In this Silk Noodle Bar NYC review, I’ll break down the menu, prices, and overall experience and whether this is the best luosifen in Manhattan.

Is Silk Noodle Bar NYC Worth It? (Quick Verdict)
⭐ 4.2/5 — One of the only places in Manhattan serving authentic luosifen. It could use more spice, but it’s still worth a visit.
Must Order: Signature Fried Egg Luosifen/Rice Noodle
Reservations: Walk-In Only
Silk Noodle Bar is a solid and relatively authentic option in Chinatown. However, the luosifen here lacks the signature spice and pungency that define a true Guangxi-style bowl. That said, based on what’s currently available in NYC, this may be the best you’ll find, and it’s still worth a visit if you’re in Manhattan.

The Vibe at Silk Noodle Bar NYC
Simple, clean, and efficient, Silk Noodle Bar delivers a great comfort food vibe. While the interior is minimal, the exterior stands out. Especially at night, when the lit signage gives off a slightly gritty, graffiti-inspired feel. Please note that this spot fills up quickly, and it’s common for seating to be unavailable. It’s best to arrive early or be prepared to take your order to go.

Silk Noodle Bar Menu & Prices

The menu is centered almost entirely around luosifen, with variations mainly coming down to spice level, add-ons, and customization options. This is easily one of the best parts of Silk Noodle Bar as you can build your own bowl without the hassle of sourcing ingredients and cooking everything yourself.
What to Order at Silk Noodle Bar

The Original Luosifen was delicious, and I added braised chicken feet, which were also very tasty. This would normally be a standout must-order, but the next dish I tried was even better. If you’re into spice, I’d recommend going for the Spicy King version as it seems to be the same dish, just with more heat.

Their Signature Fried Egg Luosifen is the must-order dish. The fried egg is delicious, and the broth tastes fresh, rich, and savory. I added an additional boiled egg as I asked for shrimp which they ran out of.
