Spring is in full bloom in New York City, and Brookfield Place Winter Garden is bringing California vibes to downtown Manhattan. The iconic glass atrium is currently home to Fleeting Opulence, a new art installation by Graphic Rewilding that transforms the space with vibrant colors, light, and palm filled visuals. During my visit, the combination of towering palm trees, natural sunlight, and an Erewhon smoothie created a surprisingly laid back, West Coast style atmosphere. In this guide, I’ll cover what to expect at the Winter Garden, details on the limited-time Fleeting Opulence installation, and how to order Erewhon in New York City.

Brookfield Place Winter Garden

Warm, lush, and bright, Brookfield Place Winter Garden is defined by its soaring glass atrium and palm tree filled community space. As the host of hundreds of events throughout the year, it’s an ideal spot to grab lunch at Hudson Eats, browse nearby shops, or even work remotely while soaking in the natural sunlight. The space is anchored by sixteen 40-foot-tall Washingtonia robusta palm trees, creating a unique, almost tropical atmosphere right in downtown Manhattan. It’s easily one of the most relaxing indoor spots in NYC.

Fleeting Opulence / Graphic Rewilding

For a limited time, Brookfield Place Winter Garden is showcasing Fleeting Opulence, a vibrant art installation by Graphic Rewilding. Spanning the west wall, the piece features oversized florals and cherry blossoms that shift in tone throughout the day as sunlight moves across the atrium. The installation enhances the Winter Garden’s already serene atmosphere, adding an extra layer of warmth and a distinctly California inspired aesthetic. As the artists describe it, the work serves as an “artistic counterbalance to urban life,” bringing a sense of nature and calm into the heart of downtown Manhattan.

Please note that the Fleeting Opulence art installation will remain between March 23 – October 19 2026.

How to Order Erewhon in New York City

While Erewhon isn’t located inside Brookfield Place Winter Garden, I had the spontaneous idea to pair the experience with one of their iconic smoothies enjoying it beneath the palm trees while soaking in the sunlight. In 2025, Erewhon expanded to New York City with a location inside Kith Ivy, an ultra-exclusive, high-fashion members club with reported membership costs around $36,000. While access to the space is limited to members, non-members can still order Erewhon smoothies through Uber Eats for delivery across Manhattan making it surprisingly easy to recreate this California inspired moment in NYC.

What to Order at Erewhon NYC and Prices

The Erewhon menu in NYC is fairly focused, mainly offering some of their most popular smoothies alongside a couple of bottled health shots, but it gets the job done. I ordered the Malibu Mango Smoothie, the Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie (also known as the Hailey Bieber smoothie), and the Coconut Cloud Smoothie. All three were undeniably delicious and likely packed with plenty of health benefits. That said, with prices hovering around $25 per smoothie before delivery fees and tax it’s more of an occasional indulgence than an everyday go-to for most people.

The Takeaway: Is Brookfield Place’s Winter Garden Worth Visiting?

Brookfield Place Winter Garden is absolutely worth a visit, whether you’re there to experience the iconic Winter Garden, explore the surrounding shops, or check out the Fleeting Opulence art installation. It’s one of the few places in NYC where you can enjoy a relaxed moment under palm trees while grabbing a bite to eat. I can also say that Erewhon is worth trying at least once, if only to understand the hype and why it’s so popular in California. And honestly, maybe one day they’ll get to experience something like Apollo Bagels out there too.
